Peace, kindness, forgiveness and honesty
From mid-July to the end of August 2018 (Year B), the resources focus on Paul’s letter to the church in Ephesus and his passionate message to people about the importance of leading everyday lives based on peace, kindness, forgiveness and honesty. There is a lot to explore and discuss – just when many children’s and young people’s groups take a break over the summer holiday! So why not use the materials as ready-made sessions for a holiday club?
- There are seven weeks of material in total. You could select from them to produce as many sessions as you need, perhaps using one week of material for a morning or afternoon activity day, or two weeks of material per full day session. Plan the sessions around the Paul’s world – life in Ephesus Sheets which provide an imaginative way to help children understand Paul’s context and his message to the Ephesians.
- Introduce Paul using the Who is Paul? animated presentation, and include some background detail on Ephesus. Find more information on Paul’s world, go to Lectionary/Bible above the Week by week tab.

- Open each session with a gathering prayer and game or activity.
- Spend some time using the relevant Paul’s world – Life in Ephesus sheet and the Talk about questions from Present the reading.

- Select from the ideas in the Explore & respond section to provide a variety of ways for children to make a personal response to the ‘nugget’ of Paul’s teaching.
- Don’t forget to build in time for getting-to-know-you activities, refreshments and the opportunity for children to enjoy some social time together.
- The materials can be used with a mixed age group including young people. Supplement discussion ideas and activities from the Young People page as appropriate.
