Non-subscriber version

The move from primary to secondary school can be daunting for many children. By offering a leavers’ service, churches can strengthen links between church and school while supporting children by celebrating and marking this important milestone in the wider context of faith.
Written by Emma Anderton – Children, Families & Youth Missioner at the Diocese of Chelmsford – this Primary School leavers’ service uses the imagery of a tree to reflect on seasonal changes and God’s presence with us in transitions.
As well as a service outline, we offer a selection of response activities; you can choose a selection to do together, or encourage children to move around self-directed stations.
Activities are grouped into three sections:
- Spring – Memories and achievements representing the past
- Summer – Wait in this space representing the present
- Autumn – Who will you be? representing the future.
