The ROOTS team
In addition to the core ROOTS team introduced on this page, the ROOTS materials are written by a range of experienced ordained and lay practitioners from across the denominations and traditions.
Rosemary Nixon, Project Director
Rosemary started working with ROOTS in August 2005. She has a background in educational publishing and worked at OUP for 13 years in the English Language Teaching Division. As a freelancer, she has project managed, written and edited a range of educational materials including literacy programmes. She is an active member of her local church in north Oxfordshire, leading the choir, involved in collaborative worship planning and contributing to lay-led services.
Maureen Baldwin, Editor, ROOTS Children & Young People
Maureen took over as editor of CYP in March 2005. With a B.Ed. in theology and M.Ed. in religious education she has worked with children and young people of every age in formal and informal education settings, both in the UK and abroad. Maureen first worked with ROOTS as a writer, and served on the Editorial Group before her appointment as Editor. She lives in Weeton near Blackpool and worships with a church in Kirkham where she works with the young people. Maureen has been named one of three Catholic Women of the Year for 2009 in recognition of her work for and with young people.
Gill Ambrose, Editor, ROOTS Adult & All Age
Gill Ambrose became Editor of ROOTS Worship (Adult & All Age from September 2008) early in 2007 after being the Children's Work Adviser for Ely diocese for over twenty years. She originally trained as a primary school teacher and worked in schools in Sheffield and Cambridge before becoming a full-time mum, when she did all sorts of things! She has written and contributed to a number of books about worship and education and is currently a member of the Church of England Liturgical Commission and of the General Synod. She is married to an Anglican priest and they have a Godly Play classroom in their garden.
Allison Ward, Marketing
Allison Ward started working for ROOTS in July 2007. She was previously the marketing manager for the Church Times , publicity officer for Darton, Longman and Todd publishers, and manager of Mowbray's Bookshop. She was a leader of a Methodist youth group and head server of her college chapel, and is currently a member of the PCC at her local Anglican church in Kent, which she attends with her two small children.
